Understanding and implementing your vision and strategies

When organisations have decided that a new vision and strategy is the way to future success it is because the top team has looked at the marketplace: the trends in their sector, the competition and customer demands and they believe that they have the capabilities to deliver a differentiated proposition that will bring success. In coming to that conclusion the top team has spent many months analysing research and debating the possibilities.

The next step is then to turn to one of your Directors and ask them to communicate this to the organisation. Too often this is done through a mixture of traditional communications media & formats such as ‘talking-head’ Road shows, emails and the company magazine. The results unsurprisingly are that nothing changes. Why? Because the one-way communication does not engage and involve the employees. What we tend to forget is that the top team spent many days or months coming to their conclusion that things needed to be different.

The key to success, is to recreate the same conversations with your employees so that they too can come to similar conclusions. That way they can see the reasons for the change, buy in to them and be motivated to act in the new way. We can do this through a unique process called ChangeMaps (see the ChangeMaps section of our site).
